About the role

Primary responsibility is for performing and/or overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, repair, and recommendation for replacement, overhauling of and/or operation of: air handlers, exhaust fans, steam boilers, steam distribution, condensate return, pumps, appurtenances, chillers, cooling towers, fans, compressed air, control air, generators, building automation systems, softeners, heat exchangers, and heating hot water units.

Must have the ability to perform assigned tasks of position without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to give simple instructions to others in the performance of tasks. Must have the ability to workday, evening or night shifts as assigned or needed Must have the ability to perform duties in an accurate and precise manner even during crisis and emergency situations when time is critical.

Experience 5 years previous HVAC experience desired. Experience in a health care environment desired. Materials and Equipment directly used Blueprints; personal computer, technical manuals, service manuals, hospital vehicles, and electro/mechanical testing devices.

Working environment/Physical ActivitY Physical requirements may be met with the aid of mechanical devices. These are minimally necessary for the safe completion of duties: Carry and manipulate equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Exposure to disagreeable environmental conditions, including dirt, noise, heights, cramped working spaces.

Tasks where caution must be exercised to ensure safety. Good vision. Good hearing.

Fully mobile on steps and ladders. Enough mobility and dexterity of both arms to safely operate hand and power tools, gauges, valves, etc. INTERRELATIONSHIPS Co-workers, outside service, administrative staff, hospital staff, patients and visitors.

Must be able to work and complete duties in direct patient care environment. SUPERVISORY DUTIES None

Repairs/maintain boilers and appurtenances. Changes filters in air handling units.

Responsible for preventative maintenance in assigned area. Keep records and logs of work performed. Performs minor electrical repairs.

Performs urgent corrective, routing and requisitioned repairs. Orders parts and supplies for areas of responsibility. Diagnosis system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment.

Maintains appropriate records to ensure compliance with state, federal and The Joint Commission regulations. Must demonstrate ENCORE behavior at all times. Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission Standards.

Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure. Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate The use of protective barriers as appropriate; *gloves *masks *safety glasses *gowns *pocket masks Handling and disposing of infectious waste appropriately.

Hand washing as appropriate. Responsible for all compliance with OSHA, government and state regulations as applies to mechanical type equipment. OTHER Duties/Responsibilities Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner.

Performs manual duties as required Assists in preparing project cost estimates, to include material, labor, and schedules. Assist and back-up other trades and co-workers when necessary. Other duties as assigned
