You’ll need
Licensure
✓Refer to Laboratory Personnel and Licensure Requirements policy (QI-11- PER-01) for performance assessment and regulatory responsibilities.
Certifications
✓May perform duties of MT, MLT, TLA or LA as needed.
Education
✓Medical Technologist: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, medical or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
✓Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate degree in medical technology/technician from an accredited institution.
Qualifications
✓Evaluates performance of department in relation to established goals using appropriate data and personal observation, as assigned.
✓Evaluates and maintains and may develop procedures.
✓Prepares reports and documents for immediate supervisor and other relevant people as assigned.
✓Investigates and addresses incidents involving patients, employees, clients, visitors.
✓Handles situation using appropriate company policy or procedure.
✓Consults manager or other appropriate resource.
✓Plans, organizes and implements procedures for the efficient use of supplies and equipment.
✓May be responsible for Decentralized Laboratory Testing (DLT)/Point-of-Care Testing (POCT).
✓Partners with management and employees to create a positive team environment that encourages open communication to build a high performing team. Guides and supports team members with training and questions.
✓Hires, trains, develops and appraises employees appropriately and in compliance with federal and state employment and labor laws.
✓Plans and coordinates training, development and assessment of employees.
✓Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis.
✓Consults with manager and Human Resources as appropriate.
✓Analyzes appropriate data and information needed to make decisions.
✓Researches and selects solutions.
✓Reports unsafe work conditions, injuries/illnesses and incidents in a timely and proper manner.
✓Builds competence in others through effective coaching, performance management and mentoring.
✓Maintains attendance as scheduled/assigned, consistent with DLS policies and procedures.
✓Maintains confidentiality of information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
