Surgery Scheduler - UPMC Washington, Orthopaedic Care Office

✓Obtain pre-certification and/or referral prior to the date of the procedure.
Education
✓High school diploma or equivalent required.
Qualifications
Previous scheduler/clinical experience. This position involves multiple changing priorities; we are looking for someone with strong organizational skills; someone who is collaborative and solution focused who can work individually or part of a team to produce results. preferred
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7AM-3:30PM, 7:30AM-4PM, 8AM-4:30PM. Saturday mornings for temporary Fall Injury clinic August thru the end of October. Possible minimal travel to other offices in the area if needed. preferred
Completion of a medical assisting program or 2-4 years experience in a medical field. preferred
Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
General knowledge of computer software and practice management databases is essential. preferred
Knowledge of the Epic practice management programs preferred.
Strong organization, time management and interpersonal skills. preferred
Tact and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with physicians, patients and their families and other employees. preferred
Ability to deal compassionately and professionally with patients is essential. preferred
Work independently and possess sound decision-making skills. preferred
Knowledge of insurance regulations, specifically Medicare, BC/BS, managed care plans and workers compensation carriers regarding scheduling and approval of surgical procedures. preferred
Ability to prioritize work demands. preferred
