Vice President of Operations Nexus Health Systems Nexus Health Systems is seeking a Vice President of Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across our hospitals, residential treatment centers, and specialized programs. This position plays a key role in helping facility leaders deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while meeting goals for safety, compliance, growth, workforce performance, and financial stewardship.
The VP of Operations works closely with facility executives, clinical leaders, and corporate departments to turn organizational strategy into action. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between big-picture planning and the details of daily operations: evaluating performance data, solving barriers with local teams, supporting new programs, and helping leaders build reliable processes across locations.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Provide guidance and support to facility administrators and operational leaders across assigned hospitals, residential programs, and service lines. Help facilities meet goals related to census, patient experience, quality, safety, access, and operational efficiency. Establish consistent expectations and support the execution of organizational policies, operating standards, and strategic initiatives.
Identify barriers affecting daily operations and work with local and corporate teams to develop practical solutions. Monitor operational performance, follow through on improvement plans, and share effective practices across facilities. Maintain an active presence at assigned locations to understand local needs and support leaders in real time.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance Partner with Quality, Compliance, and Clinical Leadership to strengthen patient safety and regulatory readiness. Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives, audit findings, and corrective action plans. Help leaders build systems for monitoring performance, addressing concerns promptly, and sustaining improvements.
Promote a culture of accountability in which patient needs, safe practices, and regulatory requirements guide operational decisions. Financial and Workforce Performance Partner with Finance and HR to evaluate budgets, staffing models, labor utilization, and cost-control opportunities. Align staffing and other resources with census, patient needs, program requirements, and organizational priorities.
Review financial results and operational trends, identify causes of variance, and develop plans to improve performance. Support workforce forecasting, recruitment, retention, and leadership staffing plans. Balance financial discipline with the staffing and resources needed to deliver safe, effective care.
Growth and Program Development Support facility expansion, new service lines, and other growth initiatives in partnership with senior leadership. Coordinate operational plans for new programs and facilities, including launch readiness, workflows, staffing, and cross-functional support. Identify opportunities to improve patient flow, access to services, and program capacity.
Use performance data and market insights to inform operational planning and investment decisions. Collaboration and Leadership Development Build strong working relationships with clinical, nursing, medical, therapy, behavioral health, admissions, HR, IT, facilities, and business development teams. Improve communication and coordination across facilities, service lines, and corporate departments.
Serve as a mentor and resource for facility leaders, department heads, and operational managers. Support leadership development, succession planning, performance management, and a culture of collaboration and service excellence. Partner with Marketing and Communications on operational updates and organizational change initiatives.
Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, Operations Management, or a related field. At least 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, hospital administration, or oversight of multiple locations or service lines. Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and lead complex initiatives across departments.
Experience with budgeting, workforce planning, performance analysis, and operational improvement. Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively with both corporate and facility leaders and manage competing priorities across locations.
Preferred Master’s degree, such as an MBA, MHA, MPH, MSN, or related degree. Leadership experience in behavioral health, rehabilitation, acute care, post-acute care, or residential treatment. Experience supporting regulatory readiness, quality improvement, program launches, or facility growth.
A demonstrated record of improving financial outcomes, patient experience, quality, and compliance across multiple programs or facilities.
