The RN will be responsible for assessing, caring for, and treating patients while working closely with the care team. This position requires strong clinical judgment, accurate documentation, medication administration, and the ability to respond appropriately to emergency and behavioral situations. Patient PopulationIndividuals with intellectual disabilitiesIndividuals with developmental disabilitiesIndividuals with behavioral health needsPatient RatiosTypical assignment: approximately 9–10 patientsHigher-functioning patients may have slightly higher ratiosLower-functioning patients typically have smaller assignmentsInfirmary: approximately 15 patients total, supported by 3–4 RNs and a charge nurseOrientation & FloatingApproximately 2 weeks of classroom/educational orientationFollowed by approximately 2 weeks of on-the-job trainingNurses are initially oriented to multiple assignments before being placed where the greatest need existsAgency nurses are generally the first to float when coverage is needed on another unitRequirements Required:Active Texas RN License or Compact RN LicenseCurrent CPR certificationAbility to safely perform CPR and respond to emergency situationsNursing experienceAbility to calculate medication dosagesAbility to recognize and appropriately follow Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) proceduresAbility to accurately maintain records and complete required reportsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to appropriately interact with individuals with developmental disabilities and facility staff2 professional references from 2 different employers required in submission packetCOVID vaccination requiredPreferred:2 years of nursing experienceAt least 6 months of RN experiencePrevious experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities Local Pay Package Estimated Weekly Gross: $1,920/weekTaxable: $1,920/weekHourly Rate: $48/hr.
