  • Current Ohio Stationary Engineer license is a firm requirement
  • Valid Ohio driver's license is a firm requirement
  • Candidates must have hands-on boiler room/plant operations experience REQUIRED

• High school diploma or GED required. • Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of a general high school or technical school education, plus six months or less of special preparation outside of school.

• 2–3 years of boiler room operations experience. • Experience operating and maintaining boilers, turbines, steam engines, pumps, condensers, chillers, and air conditioning units.

• Current Ohio Stationary Engineer license – required. • Valid Ohio driver's license – required. TECHNICAL

  • High-pressure boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Chiller and auxiliary equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Boiler water-level and feed-pump pressure control.
  • Water sampling, testing, chemical treatment, and hardness control.
  • Monitoring gauges, meters, control panels, and plant operating conditions.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and corrective repair.
  • Heating, cooling, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to evaluate plant loads and make appropriate temperature, pressure, and flow adjustments.
  • Experience with plant automation and monitoring systems. OTHER
  • Must be able to work independently within established procedures and use sound judgment when responding to plant operations issues.
  • Must be able to work the 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3-on/3-off rotating schedule.
  • Must be able to complete an onsite interview.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for facility equipment and materials.
  • Ability to train, supervise, and direct a Plant Operations Assistant.
  • Must follow correct and safe work practices.
  • May be required to complete annual education related to LMHS specialty certifications and accreditation standards. KEY
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain high-pressure boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment that provide heat, cooling, power, and water for the Hospital.
  • Conduct hourly inspections of main and auxiliary equipment and identify equipment or piping malfunctions.
  • Record readings from gauges and meters, including steam, water, gas, fuel oil, and air pressure, and maintain required Plant Operations logs.
  • Maintain continual surveillance of control panels and monitor equipment for abnormal conditions.
  • Maintain proper boiler water levels, manipulate valves controlling boiler feed-pump pressure, and perform prescribed boiler and water-column blowdowns.
  • Evaluate plant-load requirements and adjust temperature, pressure, and flow as needed, including activating additional boilers when necessary.
  • Collect and test water samples, including boiler, feedwater, condensate, water wall, and applicable seasonal systems.
  • Treat water with chemicals as necessary, control water parameters and hardness levels, and document results and corrective actions.
  • Monitor Automated Logic Control systems and make corrections or adjustments as necessary.
  • Perform corrective repair work when equipment fails and escalate repairs to management when needed.
  • Monitor the Primex refrigerator monitoring system and coordinate adjustments with the Plant Operations Assistant or appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor Hospital oxygen and nitrous oxide supplies and pressure and reorder as necessary.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance and repairs within required timelines.
  • Clean boiler-room and basement equipment and perform related custodial duties as necessary.
  • Train and supervise the Plant Operations Assistant and ensure correct and safe work practices are followed.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including unclogging drains and repairing heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment throughout patient-care and office areas.
  • Complete assigned routine Plant Operations tasks and annual education requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
