2+ years of healthcare reimbursement experience with direct hospital cost reporting responsibilities Hands-on Medicare Cost Report experience, specifically CMS-2552-10 worksheets, workpapers, cost allocations, schedules, and audit support Experience with HCAI/OSHPD reporting in a hospital, health system, or multi-facility environment Strong experience with general ledger data, trial balances, financial statements, cost allocations, and reconciliation to accounting records Proven hospital cost report preparation experience, not primarily revenue cycle, billing, AR, claims, patient accounts, or payment posting Strong knowledge of CMS, Medicare, and Medi-Cal reimbursement methodologies Experience supporting audits, regulatory filings, compliance documentation, audit adjustments, reopenings, appeals, or MAC requests Ability to analyze regulatory guidance and assess reimbursement or financial impact Experience partnering with accounting, finance, government reporting, audit, or reimbursement teams Preferred
Experience with GME, IME, DSH, organ acquisition, CAH reimbursement, subproviders, sole community hospitals, Medicare bad debt, wage index, or settlement modeling Experience supporting large, complex, or multi-hospital health systems Experience preparing multi-year reimbursement projections, variance analysis, and reimbursement impact models Experience contributing reimbursement inputs to budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, or financial planning Experience with regulatory disclosures, supplemental filings, HCAI filings, audit responses, amendments, reopenings, NPRs, or MAC communication Experience collaborating with external auditors, consultants, finance leadership, accounting teams, and government reporting teams Summary / Duties: Reimbursement Analyst III supports hospital government reimbursement activities for Medicare, Medi-Cal, HCAI/OSHPD reporting, audits, and regulatory filings.
This role is focused on hospital reimbursement and cost reporting, not revenue cycle, billing, AR, claims, patient accounts, payment posting, or payer collections. Duties include preparing and supporting CMS-2552-10 worksheets, workpapers, allocations, reconciliations, audit schedules, and supporting documentation. The analyst reconciles cost report data to the general ledger, trial balance, financial statements, and accounting records while preparing reimbursement analysis, variance analysis, and financial impact models.
This role also supports audit requests, cost report reviews, audit adjustments, reopenings, appeals, agency inquiries, compliance documentation, and collaboration with finance, accounting, government reporting, and reimbursement stakeholders.
