Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintains asepsis, anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. Actively participates in patient care and safety. Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff.
Education/ExperienceMinimum Required:High School diploma or equivalentMeets the NYS Surgical Technologist Certification Law; OR Completed a Surgical Technologist program in the Armed Forces; OR completed a nationally accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist with a nationally accredited Surgical Technologist credentials. Preferred:Previous Operating Room experiencePrevious experience as a Surgical TechnologistLicense/CertificationMinimum Required:CPR Certification within 3 months of hire.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in an office environment and patient care areas in which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated. Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
