1199 UNION 59 day assignment. 5 days/wk 8 hrs/day could include weekends (most likely 8:00am-4:00pm including 30 minute unpaid lunch break). Just will be in lab; no direct patient care. PFT cert (STRONGLY preferred).

-- Department: RESPIRATORY THERAPY Essential Job Duties Administers all forms of routine and advanced respiratory therapy modalities and techniques Assesses appropriateness of ordered modality to meet therapeutic goals Assesses effectiveness of therapy administered. Assists M. D. in interpretation of data from complex invasivenon-invasive techniques.
Determines appropriate ventilator settings as dictated by the particular situation unless specific settings have been ordered by M. D. Performs invasive and non-invasive techniques of a diagnostic and therapeutic nature in accordance with department policy and procedures.
Performs arterial puncture and evaluates results to gauge response to therapy. Performs and evaluates bedside techniques in safe and effective manner e.g. weaning techniques endotracheal intubation. Determines potency of artificial airways and takes appropriate corrective action to ensure patient survival.
Interacts with all medical personnel to resolve patient care issues in critical care independent of supervision. Discusses nuances of care of a highly technical nature with medical personnel Demonstrates R. T. equipment and its clinical applications.
Documents patient care. Assists with clinical instruction of new employees when requested by supervisor. Imparts concepts and technical procedures of Respiratory Care in logical sequences.
Integrates the importance of R. T. into the overall patients condition. Actively participates in department in-service education programs Regularly teaches non-credentialed staff.
Participates in department safety program Insures adherence to safety regulations. Insures that cylinder levels do not drop below specified point Develops and maintains a high level of customer service. Displays courtesy tact and diplomacy when dealing with staff colleagues superiors patients hospital visitors vendors representatives of other institutions and government and regulatory agencies.
Offers to assist those mentioned in "a" in attaining their goals or completing their tasks whenever possible or if unable obtains appropriate assistance. Gather complex hemodynamic data and interprets results to assess impact of R. T. modality.
Recognizes conflicts and defuses situation by use of sound judgment and understanding of group dynamics and interrelationships. Slightly varied functions some judgment required in selecting applicable rules or procedures precedent is clearly defined. Supervision is moderate except when new work arises or when non-standard issues arise which require guidance a moderate degree of independent action is permitted work is checked only occasionally incumbent usually responsible for own work which is often initiated by the supervisor.
Ineffective therapy resulting in prolonged length of stay or increased patient morbidity. Negative patient outcome in emergency or critical care setting. Poor public relations.
Increased medico-legal liability. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Work Experience Six months prior hospital based experience and successful completion of both parts of Advanced Respiratory Therapy Practitioner exam leading to RRT credential Required Must have broad in-depth and superior knowledge and understanding of all RT equipment and practices as well as clinical application in critical care and pediatrics Required Must have a broad scope of knowledge in pathologic basis of disease with focus on cardio-pulmonary pathophysiology and respiratory therapy treatment of disease states.
Required Must demonstrate superior knowledge of R. T. equipment in terms of application limitations trouble-shooting and alternate courses of action Required Understands abnormal lab values and recommends corrective action Required Superior oral and written communication skills in order to make technical information clearly understandable to M. D.s and other hospital personnel Required Will effectively interact with all medical personnel as an integral member of the health care team committed to excellence in patient care Required Demonstrates leadership qualities in time management based upon sound judgment Required Education Associates Degree in Applied Science or its equivalent Required and Graduate from and hold certificate CRTT of completion on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or one supported by the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by N.
