Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service, to general and specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and support medical equipment, such as anesthesia machines, ventilators, patient monitoring, first look on diagnostic imaging devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, heart perfusion devices, laser, laboratory, etc. Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Performs PM procedures using manufacturers' recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines. Performs services on specialized equipment in one or more of the following categories: anesthesia machines, ventilators, patient monitoring, first look on diagnostic imaging devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, heart perfusion devices, laser, laboratory analyzers, etcPerforms Corrective Maintenance (CM) procedures including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic, electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other related sciences and documents results of activities performedInteracts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing PM procedures while minimizing interference to hospital departmentsHas authority (based on department guidelines) to order parts and supplies required for emergency service or repair of medical equipmentOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Associate’s degree in Biomedical Electronics, Electronic Technology or related field requiredCBET or A+ certification requiredWork
5 year’s experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical devices and/or clinical support equipment requiredSpecialized training by manufacturer or third party equipment repair in such areas as anesthesia machines, ventilators, patient monitoring, first look on diagnostic imaging devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, heart perfusion devices, laser, laboratory analyzers, etc. preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageBasic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologyWorking knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the fieldAbility to train CTS employees on use and application of select test equipmentKnowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, CMS, EOC, FDA and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repairAbility to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in specialty areasMust possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with ability to inspire and motivate othersBasic understanding of personal computer operation, applications, networking and ability to input data using keyboard.
