Cardiac Cath Technologist-PDM- Central Harnett Hospital

Performs invasive diagnostic, interventional cardiology, and electrophysiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality assurance of image processing, patient monitoring and the x-ray equipment. Participates in the daily activities of the lab by assisting scrub and monitor roles.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Provides and ensures quality care for patients as indicated by their clinical conditionMeets the human needs of high-risk cardiac patients by explaining, educating and reassuring the patients throughout the cath procedurePerforms in the scrub role setting up sterile field, preparing patient for exam and assisting physician during proceduresPerforms in the monitor role by observing and documenting hemodynamic, EKG, and pressure waveformsRecords information related to equipment use, procedural occurrences, and complications that occur during the caseEnsures that time-outs occur prior to beginning proceduresServes as liaison between the floor nurse and the cardiac cath lab personnel by reporting patient follow-up care post cath orders and any procedure complicationsAssists in emergency situations by initiating and/or assisting in procedures described by hospital policy including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias and maintaining proper documentation of emergency situationsAbides by infection control procedures for the cath lab and the medical centerParticipates in the ongoing cardiac cath lab quality control program, preventive maintenance, and performance improvement programsDemonstrates knowledge of growth and development of the younger to older adult; understands the range of treatment based on the patient’s developmental needsOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program requiredCurrent ARRT and/or RCIS certification requiredWork
