Participation in daily inpatient rounding by taking patient history, conducting physical exam, reviewing laboratory and diagnostic data, performing medication reconciliation, procedures, and computer order entry as appropriate. Participation in daily multidisciplinary round by contributing specific surgical perspective and promoting integrated comprehensive patient careActive team participant in mentoring and educating other team membersInpatient consultation and admission at the direction of the collaborating physician.

Documentation of all patient encounters by computerized progress notes, brief operative note, procedural notes or admission/consultation/discharge summary dictationPre-operative patient evaluation and medical optimizationEvaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic, and surgical concerns which include the following:Admission/consultation of patients at the direction of the collaborating physicianConduct medical history; performance of physical examinationCollection, interpretation & recording of diagnostic clinical laboratory dataOrdering, specimen collection & interpretation of all relevant laboratory/microbiological testsOrdering & interpretation of all relevant radiologic/US/MRI/NM studiesOrdering, performance & interrelation of cardiac diagnostic testingDiagnosis of acute and chronic conditions affecting all organs systemsDevelopment of treatment plansOrdering medicationsAddress the pharmacologic needs of patients by CPOE/written/oral methodsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Dispense & Administration of medicationsPerformance medication reconciliationFormulating interventions and performing therapeutic measures to ensure the appropriate individualized plan of care is implemented.

Applying knowledge of age specific needs, (pediatric, adolescents, adult and geriatric) to plan of care interventions and patients' responses to careActivity & diet level designationOrdering/renewal of restraintsPerformance of rounds & recording of computerized written and/or dictated documentation of all patient encounters by computerized progress notes, brief operative note, procedural notes or admission/consultation/discharge summary dictationPre-operative patient evaluation and medical optimizationPost-operative patient ICU and floor managementCoordinating information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance personnelFacilitate and direct BLS/ACLS measures as necessaryParticipation in Clinical & multidisciplinary rounds by contributing specific surgical perspective & promoting integrated comprehensive patient care, & assisting with discharge planningProvide relevant patient education and counseling regarding heath status/test results/disease process & discharge planningAddress patient psychosocial needs by assessing patient's functional status & evaluating patient's mental status by Consultation/Referral to other health professionals & community agenciesAssessing clinical factors including, but not limited to, immunosuppression complications, drug toxicity, infections complications and risk rejectionCoordinating care of recipient and/or living donor as neededCommunicating frequently with referring physicians regarding the patient's statusPerform any other clinical responsibility within the PA's level of training and scope of practiceAssist the collaborating physician in any intervention in the interest of patient care/safetyFunctions fully within the Outpatient and Inpatient settingProviding on-call coverage for medical triage for outpatients in collaboration with the physician on-callThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Physician Assistant StudiesOne + years’ experienceLICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:Valid American Heart Association BLS & ACLS certificationsLicensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.

NCCPA CertificationPay Range:$92,227.20 - $171,537.60Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)Certain positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.
