Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position. **2.25 3rd shfit differential** OverviewPOSITION
Central Monitor Technicians are specialty-trained members of the Patient Care Team who provide centralized, Ministry-wide cardiac surveillance for patients receiving cardiac monitoring across multiple facilities and care areas. Virtual Central Monitor Technicians will observe, interpret, prioritize, and escalate rhythm changes for a high-volume and clinically diverse patient population. This role requires rapid rhythm recognition, sound judgment with limited direct patient context, real-time communication with cross-facility care teams, and consistent adherence to standardized escalation protocols.
Central Monitor Technicians use telemetry platforms, electronic medical records, and enterprise communication systems to support patient safety, continuity of care, and quality outcomes across the OSF HealthCare digital care environment. Work is performed in a virtual centralized monitoring environment and requires collaboration with nursing leaders, bedside care teams, providers, and digital care support teams across assigned facilities.
QualificationsREQUIRED
High School Diploma/ GEDExperience:Successful completion of Centralized Monitor Unit-specific onboarding and multi-patient centralized monitoring orientation within established departmental timelines. Licensure/ Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire. Successful completion of OSF-approved EKG/Telemetry Rhythm Interpretation Training and certification within established departmental timelines.
Other Skills/ Knowledge:Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and concisely in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication systems with care teams at facilities the technician may not physically work within. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
Associate degree in a healthcare-related fieldExperience:Experience utilizing electronic medical records and enterprise cardiac monitoring systems. Previous centralized monitoring or multi-facility telemetry experience strongly preferred. Previous bedside telemetry, cardiac monitoring, or patient care experience.
