Certified Or Registered Respiratory Therapist

Performs all aspects and modalities of Respiratory Care to Health System patients per department guidelines. Responds to resuscitation situations and other respiratory emergencies when needed. Maintains and completes appropriate documentation in patients’ charts and departmental records.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Administer continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelinesPerforms intermittent therapy and diagnostic procedures per department guidelinesAccess patient medication from the Medication Security Area to implement respiratory care per hospital and departmental policies and proceduresInitiate and maintain mechanical ventilation and completes appropriate documentationProvide airway management, ventilation, and closed chest compression as necessary during emergency resuscitation.

Perform intubation after receiving approval. Initiate and maintain monitoring equipmentPerform as charge therapists in the absence of a supervisorKnowledgeable in the use of equipment and treatment modalities for patients of all agesCharge all services provided inclusive of use of BCX systemOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: CRT credentials or Provisional License requiredGraduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care ProgramCertified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT)Licensed by the NCRCBBCLS certified by the American Heart AssociationMust obtain RRT credentials within 36 months of hire date to maintain employmentWork
