R3 is a 38-bed adult acute care unit complemented by a 6-bed intermediate care area, offering continuous cardiac monitoring throughout.
The unit serves patients aged 18 and older, providing specialized care primarily for multi-trauma, burn, vascular, and general surgical cases. R3 is dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care, grounded in respect, collaboration, and teamwork among staff.

In accordance with national standards of nursing practice and within the guidelines and policies and procedures of both Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of the effects of nursing care.
Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community basis. This is a part time night shift opportunity consisting of 2, 12 hour shifts per week.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) •
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year • License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Maine. •
- At least 1 year RN experience. Charge nurse, wound/burn, or telemetry experience preferred. Care of post-op surgical patients strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients’ conditions and to initiate appropriate action.
- Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action.
- Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families.
- Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit. The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package. The pay range for this position is $41.34 to $60.22 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
