Screen and interpret gynecological and non-gynecological slides for diseases and abnormalities under general supervisionResult the interpretation of each specimen examined in a timely mannerDocument the total number of slides screened or reviewed in the laboratory or in any other laboratory in 24 hour periodDocument the number of hours spent on screening slides in each 24 hour periodMaintains accreditation with College of American Pathologists (CAP), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), licensing for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
Ensures laboratory is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Knowledge to enter the results with appropriate diagnostic codes in the laboratory information systemAdheres to safety, quality control and assurance policies, departmental and hospital policiesParticipate successfully required annual proficiency test, CAP surveys, computer based trainings and competency assessmentAssists with FNA’s and maintains the FNA cartAssists and performs (as needed) with specimen accessioning, processing, staining, and disposing of specimens according to guidelinesKnowledge in processing and maintenance of Thin Prep 2000Perform HPV orders, adding results and follow guidelinesPromotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habitsProvides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by theMaintains Quality Improvement ProgramOther Duties (as needed)Cytology statistics including comparison of tech with labFollow up on abnormal casesPerform Cytohisto correlationQuality control and rescreen on retrospective cases if qualified (CFR.493.1469) and as neededMaintains current procedure manual(s) and reviews annuallyServes on committees / task forces as requiredAssess and participates in the formation of annual goalsWork Shift Details:Days, Required
