MEP is home to the Georgetown/MedStar Washington Hospital Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program and supports various tracks of academic appointments through Georgetown University School of Medicine. St. Mary's Hospital has been a part of the Southern Maryland community for more than 100 years. A refresh of the Emergency Department (ED)’s main lobby and waiting area has recently been completed.
The ED treats approximately 45,000 patients annually with an admission rate of 22%.
