Our unit is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our intensive care but a step above med/surg as far as patient acuityCardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic. No vents. - Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents/but high flow ) 02 needs/new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care.

Fast paced unit combining aspects of ED and ICU into one department--busyness of ED & critical care aspect of ICU. Requires and builds strong assessment skills and teamworkQualifications:

Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
