TheVinesHospital.com Qualifications The Medical Records Clerk performs technical and clerical health information department functions in accordance with departmental and facility policies under the supervision of the Manager of HIM/Medical Records.
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for: Assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Maintains filing of medical records. Assists the Director of HIM/Medical Records with Release of Information.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Education and/or Work Experience
Associate degree in health information management from an accredited institution required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook) Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of medical terminology. Specific familiarity with psychiatric terminology preferred. Working knowledge of basic health information department functions.
Two (2) years’ experience in Medical Records/Health Information Management required.
