You’ll need
Certifications
✓American Society Clinical Pathology Histology Technician (HT) certification from ASCP is required within 18 months of hire.
✓Employees active in a Histotechnician position, on or before the effective date 1/1/2004, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification.
✓American Society Clinical Pathology Histotechnologist- HTL (ASCP) certification required within 12 months of hire.
Education
✓Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited HT program within the last 5 years OR an Associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.
✓Successful completion of bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours of biology and chemistry.
✓One year of clinical histology laboratory experience post training if not a graduate of accredited training program required.
