This position works closely with providers to deliver high-quality patient care while ensuring efficient clinic flow and an exceptional patient experience. This seasonal assignment is expected to last up to six months and offers valuable experience within a leading urgent care organization. High-performing team members may be considered for future permanent opportunities as they become available.

Key ResponsibilitiesRegister patients and collect demographic, insurance, and eligibility informationProcess co-pays and assist with patient schedulingPrepare patients for examinations and accurately document medical historiesObtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weightPerform point-of-care testing, including: Flu testingStrep testingUrinalysisEKGsPregnancy testingCommunicate test results to providersPerform venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimensClean, prepare, and stock examination roomsMonitor and maintain medical supplies and inventoryComplete accurate and timely EMR documentationSupport front desk operations, patient communication, and phone managementConduct patient follow-up calls as directedPerform opening and closing clinic duties, including cash handling and reconciliationConduct equipment checks, quality control procedures, and basic troubleshootingAdhere to all clinical, safety, compliance, and operational policiesPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire Certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededAbility and willingness to float between assigned centers within the marketPreferred QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Medical Assisting programExperience in: Urgent CareEmergency DepartmentHospital settingPrior patient registration or front desk experienceCertification RequirementsCandidates with fewer than three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience must:Hold an approved Medical Assistant certification, orObtain certification within twelve (12) months of hireAccepted certifications include:CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP)RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH, or ARMA)NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)Alternative QualificationsCandidates may be considered without a Medical Assistant certification at the time of hire if they possess:Three (3) or more years of Medical Assistant experience, andOne (1) or more years of experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Department, or Hospital settingAdditional Accepted CredentialsThe following credentials may be accepted in lieu of a Medical Assistant certification:Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Registered Nurse (RN)Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)ParamedicCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Additional RequirementsCPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within two (2) weeks of the start dateKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProficiency in Medical Assistant clinical dutiesStrong phlebotomy and specimen collection skillsExperience performing point-of-care testingStrong computer and documentation skillsExcellent attention to detail and organizational abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaborativelyStrong verbal and written communication skillsCommitment to exceptional, patient-centered careAbility to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environmentAdditional InformationThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
