Nurse Technician Emergency Department

 Provide basic nursing care to patients appropriate to condition and age of the patient.  Assists with resuscitation (CPR), emergency airway procedures, and hemorrhage control.  Provide general aspects of care that meet psychosocial and/or physical needs.  Assists in admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.  Performs 12-lead EKGs, blood glucose testing, and phlebotomy (drawing blood).  Assists in the initial assessment by gathering vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, O2 saturation) and reporting abnormal findings immediately to the RN  Assists with mobility, hygiene, and specimen collection (urine, stool, sputum).  Decontaminates equipment, stocks trauma rooms, and ensures oxygen and suction tools are functional and ready for the next patient.
