Provide basic nursing care to patients appropriate to condition and age of the patient. Assists with resuscitation (CPR), emergency airway procedures, and hemorrhage control. Provide general aspects of care that meet psychosocial and/or physical needs. Assists in admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Performs 12-lead EKGs, blood glucose testing, and phlebotomy (drawing blood). Assists in the initial assessment by gathering vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, O2 saturation) and reporting abnormal findings immediately to the RN Assists with mobility, hygiene, and specimen collection (urine, stool, sputum). Decontaminates equipment, stocks trauma rooms, and ensures oxygen and suction tools are functional and ready for the next patient.
