We are seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in San Antonio, TX. This role is ideal for clinicians who value variety, autonomy, and meaningful community impact while practicing in a fast-paced, well-supported urgent care environment. Our full-time schedules are designed so clinicians are off more days than they work. You'll be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.
Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound management Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR Code and bill services appropriately Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Board certification: PA: NCCPA certification NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required Active DEA license or ability to obtain Ability to treat patients of all ages Active BLS certification EHR proficiency Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays DOT certification or willingness to obtain; fees covered
Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read Experience practicing independently in a fast-paced outpatient setting About NextCare NextCare is one of the nation's largest urgent care providers, serving communities with accessible, affordable, high-quality care across 160+ locations in 11 states.
