NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our Waco – Hewitt clinic. This role is a great fit for a clinician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and meaningful patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. At NextCare, you will treat patients of all ages while being supported by experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership.
Our full-time schedule is designed with work-life balance in mind. Providers typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, with no after-hours work and schedules released in advance. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, I&D, and other procedures as applicable Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR Code and bill services appropriately Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner PA: NCCPA certification NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required Active DEA license or ability to obtain Ability to treat patients of all ages Active BLS certification EHR proficiency Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy
Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read Comfortable working independently in a busy urgent care environment About NextCare NextCare is one of the nation’s largest urgent care providers, serving communities with accessible, affordable, high-quality care across 160+ locations in 11 states.
