JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) 1. Current Colorado RN license in good standing. 2. BLS required by the end of the conditional period.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability 1. Knowledge of human growth and development to inform and guide interaction with and care for employees and volunteers, ages teen to geriatric. 2. Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems in order to assist with department services. 3.
Knowledge of OSHA and JCAHO regulations. 4. Knowledge of Corporate Compliance regulations. 5. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. 6.
Skill in participating in department quality assurance. 7. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with new and current employees and other department staff. 8. Ability to apply guidelines and procedures. 9.
Ability to communicate clearly. 10. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 11. Ability to prioritize and organize work load and be flexible to meet department needs. 12.
Ability to utilize computer software programs. 13. Ability to demonstrate proper English grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. 14. Ability to type accurately. 15.
Knowledge of medical terminology. 16. Skill in taking health histories, review of vaccination records. 17. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. 18.
Skill in administration of vaccines, TB tests, phlebotomy procedures and TB mask fit testing. Experience One to two years of experience in a clinic or hospital preferred. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED 1.

Legal and medical resource materials WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. 2. Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. 3.
Must be able to squat and stoop for long periods of time to access files and cabinets from chest height to floor level. 4. Must be able to move between offices and multiple campus sites 5. Able to grasp and lift files weighing up to 2# and push supply cart weighing up to 10# through department and hospital. 6.
Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. 7. Sits for long periods of time and must be able to answer phones, greet public. 8. Must be able to do data entry for prolonged periods of time. 9.
Ability to write, dictate or otherwise communicate. 10. Ability to hear normal level conversations and to recall and record information. 11. Must be able to travel between office and all facilities.
INTERRELATIONSHIPS 1. Maintains excellent communication and working relationships with the HR Benefits staff, Legal Counsel, Medical Director of Occupational Health, Director of Human Resources, Infection Prevention Coordination, Medical Review Officer, Clinical Documentation Specialists (CD’s), Directors and Clinical Leads/Managers, Staff – Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Rehabilitation Services, Social Services, Physician Services and Staff Physicians. 2.
Actively participates in hospital-wide committees and task forces as requested. SUPERVISORY DUTIES None Specified
Administrative: 1. Greets visitors and answers department telephones in absence of secretary 2. Takes messages and returns phone calls, schedules appointments 3.
Completes special projects or other duties as assigned 4. Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality in all communication and assignments 5. Assists with maintenance of a filing and record management system for employee health records and follow-up processes. 6.
Performs data entry for employee health 7. Assists in completing Workers’ Comp Temporary Modified Duty Contracts 8. Assists in completing FMLA and Leave of Absence Notices and mailings. 9.
Maintains exam room in orderly manner with necessary supplies. 10. Maintains and orders Pharmacy stock as needed. Clinical: 1.
Takes employee health histories and thoroughly documents in employee health record. 2. Performs veni-punctures and pre-employment drug screening. 3. Administers vaccinations and TB testing. 4.
Performs TB mask fit testing procedures. 5. Assists with employee education and instruction related to new employee evaluation, vaccination, TB screening, and Blood Borne Exposure follow-up. 6. Counsels employees following positive TB skin test results and arranges for the appropriate follow-up. 7.
When applicable, employees must be able to adjust the
they perform appropriately to the age of the employee, physician or volunteer. 8. Maintains the internal Employee Health procedure manual making edits and updates as necessary. 9. Coordinates the educates groups of employees in formal and informal settings regarding Employee Health and Infection Prevention information. 10.
Monitors compliance with all Employee Health requirements and communicates regularly with employees, physicians, volunteers, their managers and their directors. Notifies director about employees out of compliance who will be suspended. 11. Audits Employee Health files on an ongoing basis and re-educates Employee Health staff to proper procedure and/or documentation as needed. 12.
Coordinates and/or performs the education of individual staff members as to how to perform Employee Health testing for their specific unit or care area. 13. Coordinates "walk-in" clinics for the annual TB mask fit and TB skin testing and flu vaccination program. 14. Coordinates the Employee Health stations at such events as the Safety Forum and Wellness Fair. 15.
Updates Employee Forms and other paperwork so that they are current and comprehensive. 16. Collaborates with the Infection Prevention Manager and Quality Director in coordinating communication and/or prophylactic follow-up for any infectious disease outbreaks. 17. Provides clinical oversight and guidance to FMLA, ADA and Employee Illness Screenings.
Collaborates closely with the EH Assistant, Leave Specialist, Worker’s Comp Specialist, HR Business Partners, managers and directors. 18. Provides clinical case management as needed for BCH Worker’s Compensation cases in close collaboration with our third party claims administrators. 19. Educates staff regarding ergonomics and assists with tracking and trending Worker’s Compensation injuries and illnesses. 20.
Provides clinical support for all Leaves of Absences including contact with employees, medical providers, and timely completion of all required letters, notices and education to all staff regarding Leaves of Absence. 21. Provides clinical support for For Cause Issues as directed by the Manager. 22. Coordinates and implements the Blood Borne Exposure Preventions and Follow-up program for BCH in accordance with CDC recommendations and OSHA requirements.
