Time Registered Nurse to support our Neurosurgery Unit, 8D. About the Unit: 8D is a 17-bed acuity adaptable neurosurgical unit, primarily caring for adults with brain tumor, spinal cord injury, head injury, and stroke. Our patients have often undergone craniotomies for conditions such as brain hemorrhage or tumor, biopsies, lumbar laminectomies and spinal discectomies, lumbar drain insertion, and external ventricular drains. We have numerous discharges and admissions each day, making for a fast pace of work. Nurses on 8D collaborate with world-renowned neurosurgeons who employ innovative microscopic procedures for pituitary tumors and trigeminal neuralgia, as well as non-invasive gamma knife treatment. BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $37.00/hour. Shifts/Hours : Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor. Graduate Nurses must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role OR ability to start with TPP and must obtain license within four months of beginning position. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education. No experience required. BSN preferred. Graduate Nurses that are eligible for the State Board Licensure and Staff Nurses with nursing experience will be considered for this position. Please note that the below salary may vary pending years of experience and education of the selected candidate. Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC approved national certification preferred. Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS required within 12 months of beginning employment.
