Certifications
✓Officers must maintain required certifications (CPR/AED) and complete crisis prevention training, demonstrating professionalism, resilience, and a commitment to safety at all times.
✓At least one (1) of the following certifications within thirty (30) days of start date.
✓American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course OR
✓American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card.

Qualifications
✓This opportunity is open exclusively to active-duty service members who are eligible for the DOW SkillBridge Program.
✓Participants will complete an 8‑week On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) program, gaining hands‑on experience across multiple roles within the Security Department.
✓The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, associates, and property through proactive patrol, emergency response, and professional engagement.
✓Respond to behavioral and medical emergencies, including combative or aggressive individuals, utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques and approved crisis intervention methods.
✓Monitoring entrances and exits, enforcing access control procedures, conducting foot and vehicle patrols, operating surveillance and communication systems, and coordinating with law enforcement or fire personnel when necessary.
✓Provide safety escorts, conduct patient watches, assist with transports (including to the morgue), and ensure compliance with hospital policies and post orders.
✓This position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, effective communication skills, and the physical ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced healthcare environment.
✓Must currently be an active service member and eligible to participate in the DOW SkillBridge Program
✓Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days.
✓Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patients in crisis.
✓Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad.
✓Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
✓Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
✓Effective oral and written communication skills.
✓Active listening skills with ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
✓Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
