Assists professional nursing staff by performing specific patient care tasks, within the scope of practice for Nurse Intern.
A.
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of 2nd semester of nursing (or its equivalent) and enrollment in 3rdor 4thsemester of nursing at an accredited college or university. B.
Training and
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department. Completion of the following competencies per instruction and agreement (not allowed to complete shaded areas until graduation and GN permit achieved) Demonstrate Nursing Process elements within 3 months of hire or transfer: Assessment Diagnosis Planning Intervention Evaluation Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer: Unit Orientation Unit Safety Attendance requirements Appropriate documentation and chart review Demonstrate effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
Technical skills accuracy including equipment use Appropriate Delegation Age-specific Care Professional Communication Body Substance Isolation Participation in Code Blue Assist with proper patient preparation (diagnostic studies, peri-operative, reinforce patient teaching) Obtains medication from automated dispensing system. Does not administer medications IV Therapy (may start IV only) Restraint Training
