This position is for applicants interested in joining the Maine Medical Center - Portland Barbara Bush Children’s Scholars Academy (BBC SA) team supporting pediatric scholarly initiatives, in conjunction with the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) . The BBC SA supports MaineHealth pediatric healthcare professionals with the resources needed to conduct research, quality improvement, educational and advocacy projects to address pediatric healthcare gaps and advance knowledge.
This role collaborates with principal investigators, research navigators/coordinators, pediatric program staff and research leaders, MaineHealth member and affiliate institutions, and analytics staff to support project goals. This position is to support research and quality data infrastructure for the Scholars Academy and Barbara Bush Children’s Service line. Responsibilities will include working with investigators and quality teams for Epic report development, database creation, dashboard development and maintenance, and EHR data support.
This position will serve as a key collaborator for the hospital’s participation in the Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety including the development of data collection tools and reporting dashboards to display data/progress to leadership on a routine basis and submits data to SPS each month. It is expected the Scientific Manager will be an excellent communicator and foster positive relationships among stakeholders.
The Scientific Manager will be responsible for the supervision and oversight of other research staff supporting these initiatives. The Scientific Manager will also be expected to be able to serve as key or non-key personnel on funding proposals, will contribute to obtaining external funding, and contribute to the strategic direction of ongoing research. This is a career-track research staff position that offers opportunities to conduct research in collaboration with faculty scientists, clinical faculty, and community partners.
This position is available as either a hybrid or remote position. Qualified candidates will have knowledge of RedCap, EPIC Cogito and/or Caboodle, and SQL coding. Preference will be given to candidates with the following
- Cogito Fundamentals (COG170)
- Caboodle Data Model Certificate (including SQL I and SQL II)
- Clarity Data Model Fundamentals (CLR110)

Four years of relevant experience with PhD or six years of relevant experience with master's degree required. The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.
The pay range for this position is $83,324.80 to $112,736.00 per year. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
